Enrichment Services
What is enrichment?
Enrichment is providing your pet with things to do a play with that involve you and your family and alsokeep them occupied (and out of trouble) when they are home along.
Cheeky Pup has a great library of ideas of things that can enrich the life of your pet.
Enrichment programs
Enrichment programs can be tailored to your and your pet's needs. We take into account where you live, what is nearby, how much time you have to spare,d if you are crafty or sporty or have a hobyy, are you happy to spend a lot of money or just enough to stop your cheeky pup chewing the furniture. Enrichment programs can also be developed for pets with disabilities and special needs, and also if you or a family member has a disability or special needs - to ensure everyone is actively involved with your pet and forging strong bonds, love, respect and has plenty of fun.
Not only for dogs, environmental enrichment has been provided to captive animals in zoos and wildlife parks internationally for several decades and has been proven to prevent and stop neurotic, dangerous and jsut naughty behaviour while also encouraging each animal to become active in natural behaviour in healthy ways.
When Cheeky Pup prepares your pet's tailored enrichment program we can also incorporate ideas to keep your other pets and family members happy and occupied too (hey, if it works for Fido it just might work on the kids!).

Cheeky Pup runs Yappy Hour - a time and place where small breed dogs can get together with others to continue the socialisation process with new dogs and people (not to mention to run around and go nuts in a safe way). Yappy Hour is held on the grounds of the Woodstock Animal Hospital, 392 Woodstock Ave, Rooty Hill.

Have a parrot for a pet? Make or purchase a seed bell and hang it outside where your feathered friend can see it and the birds it attracks. And if you don't put your bird's cage outside somewhere safe now and again - try it, just make sure the cage is up off the ground and in shade (I regularly put my cockatiel Jaffa's cage in different spots in the back garden by using an inexpensive "s" shaped hook to hang the cage off of larger tree branches, the clothes line, window bars...). Please note: the current changeable weather means you will have to keep an eye on any seed left outdoors, if it looks like its going mouldy please compost or bin it as the mould can cause major harm to birds. This also goes for giving your bird food treats, never give out of date or spoilt fruit or vegetables to birds of any kind as it can cause all kinds of health problems from diarrhoea to feathers falling out.

Cat and kitten lovers - nows the time to plant your kitty a special garden. If you don't have a yard a large pot will do (even an old kitty litter tray with a few drainage holes punched in the bottom!). Try planting cat grass, cat mint, and cat nip in blocks and see which your puddy loves the best. My cat Gut loved cat nip but my other cat Malcolm wasn't interested at all, but then Malcolm would only eat cat food whereas Guy would steal food off my plate (and drink out of my cup or glass - which I didn't find out for at least 6 months... urg, I must've drunk cat dribble). |
