Overview
Following is a brief explanation of which training options for dogs and puppies.
Preschool: for puppies of all breeds between 7 and 16 weeks of age. For slightly older puppies of small breed dogs, eg Maltese, Chihuahua, Jack Russell Terrier.
Kindy: a "preschool" for those who missed out when younger, for juvenile dogs of all breeds between 4 months and 2 years of age. Note that small breed dogs may be initially trained slightly away from the larger dogs for their own safety (just from being knocked over by a bigger goofy dog!)
Pooch Primary Jnr: for juvenile dogs of all breeds up to 2 years of age who have experience with positive reinforcement and clicker training (please note if you used a check chain in training it was not positive reinforcement but "jerk and release" training). Before commencings Primary Jnr dogs must be capable of sitting, dropping, and staying at least 9 times out of 10 cues and have a reasonably good recall off-leash in a familiar environment. Primary Jnr trains dogs in 'behaviour chains' and gives them and you a taste of what you will need to learn for advanced obedience training and agility training.
Private dog training: if your dog has any aggression issues toward any animal or human; if your dog shows any signs of fear or shyness around other animals, people - family or strangers, loud noises, new environments; if you have more than one dog tha needs some training; if you have a senior dog (over 6 years old in large breeds, and over 8 years old in medium/small breeds); if your dog's behaviourial issues occur in the home or backyard - private training is recommended so the problem behaviours are modified/corrected before any other training occurs. For eg, if you have a shy dog - that can be addressed in a private in-home consultation and once your dog's confidence has increased they can then join a class if you wish.
Private training for other animals: an in-home consultation to train your pet in manners and obedience, as well as modifying any problem behaviours. Advice is also given on general care, management and housing of pets.
